CrossFit is comprised of many functional movements including running, rowing, weight lifting, gymnastics, and more. We want everyone who enters our doors to be equipped for success. Before you do any workout, each movement will be demonstrated and coached to ensure both understanding and safety. Before being concerned with weights or times, you must master the basic movements!
Our coaches are well versed in what it takes to be a successful CrossFitter and are happy to assist you in preparing for and achieving your fitness goals!
My name is Nila Owings, I currently have my CF-L1 and working toward obtaining my CF-L2. I know it is a struggle to find balance in your life along with living a healthy lifestyle and having a great time. I have been doing CrossFit since 2013 and been coaching CrossFit as a trainer since 2016.
I have worked with our members on improving their balance, mobility, gaining strength and maintaining a healthy lifestyle at home while enjoying their lives as well! My clients ages range from as young as 15 up to 68 years old. Everything we do can be modified to fit your needs and abilities. The best part of my job (my favorite part) is watching clients do things they could not do before or have not been able to do in years.
I struggled with doing body weight movements for years. Simple things such as a pull-up, I could not do. I put in the work and now I can knock out several in a row. I know what it takes to work toward something alone. I do not want you to work toward your goals alone. I want to be there to push you, and show you the way to obtaining each goal you have. Whether it may be losing weight, gaining strength, doing pull-ups and push-ups or as simple as doing yard work. Then be there to high five you and cheer for you as you have crossed off each goal you have made.
Bonus at our CrossFit box, is that you just do not come in and get to work, you come in and make friends and memories that will stay with you for life. The journey is fun; it's even better with friends! I cannot wait to meet you and help you accomplish your goals!

I have lived in Columbia, SC for my entire life; I love it here! I grew up playing sports of all kinds, however my favorite was baseball. My new found love has become CrossFit, which I've been involved in since early 2016. I love it, love the community, and love the people!
Since mid 2016 I have been coaching and that is so much fun. I love helping people grow and becoming better in life and over all fitness! CrossFit has helped me so much as an individual, with both my body and over all health.
Hi my name is Abigail Courtney Boland but most people just call me Abby. I got into CrossFit in 2014. I was looking for something that was challenging but also fun. Little did I know I would fall in love with CrossFit. Shortly after I went to Cookeville Tennessee (the best place on earth) to get my Level One CrossFit Certification. Since then I have coached numerous athletes and I've learned a lot about people and a lot about myself. I'm a lover of fitness and I hope to meet you someday and see you move! Smash you later!!!

I started CrossFit in 2012. After one year, I decided to get my Level 1 cert which I obtained 6/16/2013. In 2014, I obtained my Crossfit mobility cert which was taught by Kelly Starret. I have completed a two day KB class with Jeff Martone. In April of 2018, I obtained my Level 2 cert. I have coached afternoon classes at CrossFit Iron Mary’s/Optimize for 7 years. It’s a passion of mine. Four years ago, I switched my training from Crossfit to Olympic Lifting. I was still coaching and passionate about CrossFit but wanted to challenge my self by competing in Olympic Lifting. I was coached by some of the best coaches in the country. This taught me a lot about Olympic Lifting which in turn made me a better coach. I was coached for 3 years by Travis Mash and the late Don McCauley. I competed at USAW Nationals in 2016. In 2018, I was coached by Cortney Batchelor who is an American Record holder. While training with her, I won the American Masters Championships and set 5 national records. I also won the 71kg W35 division at the Masters Pan American Championships last June. Training under two coaches with very different methods in technique and training has taught me so much. Everything I learned, I brought to my classes. I was running the Olympic lifting class and have run multiple CrossFit competitions at Optimize over the years.
My life has always revolved around sports, competition, and fitness in some way, shape or form. Growing up, I was the typical jock type, playing sports year-round. That extended into my college playing Tight End for Furman University from 1995 to 1998. After graduating I traded in athletics for a desk job in Corporate America, but never lost my thirst for lifting and pursuing fitness. In December of 2014 I found a new passion in CrossFit and a few short years later, on May 1, 2017 we opened Primordial CrossFit in the hopes to coach and inspire others to change their lives for the better.
In September of 2018 I did get my CF-L1. Though I coach less frequently than the other coaches, I'm around the gym most every day and from time to time you will catch me coaching a class. I'm happy to be part of a strong team of coaches!
